Wimpy Kid Wednesdays: Greg Heffley's Journal

by Jeff Kinney / February 4, 2008

INCLUDES SPOILERS OF BOOK 8 AND 18

Plot Summary: Greg Heffley, a lazy selfish eleven year old enters middle school, and has an out-falling with his only best friend, Rowley Jefferson.

This is one of the books that most kids say got them into reading and it's their favourite book. But as I've grown up (I'm in grade 5), I realize there are much more better books then D.O.A.W.K but it is still a good series!

Greg Heffley is an oddly relatable character but simultaneously an anti-hero. Over the book series, he has no development and stays the same character and know and hate! He's still better then Rodrick.

It sucks to see the book going in such a complicated direction. Book 8 was about Greg losing Rowley to a girl.. and book 18 was about the school shutting down and the principal getting replaced by a robot. Huh?

But it did make most of a lot of my good times at school and is the reason I loved reading. Okay, that's actually a lie, I've enjoyed reading since Kindy, but then I stopped in what, Year 3? Then I discovered this book in Kindy then re-discovered it years later and started reading again. But you didn't ask for my backstory. You asked for my opinion - which is:

That all kids who like comics should read this book. It's great!
